A Day Out with Thomas

This weekend Mimi, the Twins. and I traveled many, many miles in the rain to go see Thomas the Train.  We met Lolly there and the 5 of us had a wonderful time.  It was so worth it.  The boys had a blast and were so excited when they met Thomas.
A few pictures with Thomas' Friends.

Story Time.  Hunter had no reservations about sitting on the carpet with all of the other kids.  Heath felt a little safer in Lolly's arms. (Hunter's in green)
Playing at the train table.
Finally riding on Thomas.  Hunter was so excited!
Goofy Heath was excited too. (This is their new pose, I ask them to smile so I can take a picture, and they both stick out their tongues)
We even got to meet Sir Topham Hatt

We stayed with my Aunt and Uncle and ate the worlds most delicious pizza on Friday night.  We traveled to Horseshoe Bay and ate with my cousins on Saturday night.  They served the most divine 4 course meal.  It was a little sad to come home to my own cooking.

Accident Prone and Fearless

Wednesday evening at Church, Heath got his right hand, ring finger slammed in a heavy wooden door.  It hurt.  It hit so hard, it popped his finger nail out at the base and over the skin that should be covering.  He will eventually loose his nail but for the moment, it is still attached at the top.  Momma and Daddy did not deal with this well, because it happens to be the exact same way that Daddy lost his index finger.  Heath cried for about an hour, and still whimpered throughout the rest of the night, I'm sure because it was throbbing.  I didn't get any pictures because it was a little too dramatic. And gross...do you really want a picture of that???

Yesterday afternoon (Thursday), Chris and I went to pick up the boys from Mimi's.  The boys were rough housing and Heath ran through the living room where Hunter was waiting to tackle him (football is a big thing in our household right now).  Hunter tackled him and he fell into the end table.  He busted his ear open.  It had a huge blood blister and did bleed a little.  It swelled so much his little ear folded over and he had a knot on his head behind the ear.
This picture is of Heath holding the icepack on his ear with his hand that is bandaged and covered to keep the dirt off of his finger nail.
It's always Heath.  Hunter is more cautious.  Heath is just like his daddy, accident prone and fearless.  Not a good combination!

I'll Try Anything

I may or may not have said the following in an attempt to get the boys to go to sleep at night:

* "Remember how Adam and Eve disobeyed God and he kicked them out of the garden? If you disobey Momma and Daddy we might kick you out of the house."

*"Remember how Jonah disobeyed God and got swallowed by the big fish? If you disobey Momma and Daddy, you might get swallowed by a fish.

FYI: neither line worked. If you can't tell, bedtime is still a nightmare around here.

Heath's New Hairstyle

Last week I got the cutest text message from the babysitter (aka Mom) showing me how well "Mimi's Preschool" was going.  She had the boys learning to cut in straight lines and holding their scissors correctly.  I beamed when I got the picture.  So proud. (it's a little blurry, but you get the idea)
10 minutes later, she sent me this picture.  Yup, that would be a chunk-o-hair missing from the side of Heath's head.  Apparently, safety scissors do cut hair.

The rest of the babysitters text messages went something like this:

Yes, Heath is in time out.

Heath just took apart all of the clothes pins in our fine motor center.

Hunter's shoe is on top of the horse trailer.  Hope you can get it when you get here, because I can't.

I would cry, but it's too funny.

I need a NAP!

Pinterest Made Me Do It

This week I have:

Cleaned my cookie sheets and crock pot with a mixture of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide.  I sprinkled it on there in the morning before I left for school and I wiped it of when I got home that evening.  It. Worked. Wonderfully!  No elbow grease was required and my crock pot and cookie sheets look new again.

I also made this wonderful bread.  I put 2 cups of water at the bottom of my crock pot at placed my bread pan inside it.  My bread pan was a little bit too big so it sat sideways.  It made an uneven loaf of the most moist, delicious, wonderful, pumpkin bread I have ever tasted.

I made this for my sister's new house.  I sanded and stained and stained and sanded an old pallet.  I think it turned out really cute.  I can't wait to see how it looks in her new house.

OK, so the babysitter did this one, but I found the idea and made 2 of the 3 bottles.  You take an old water bottle and cut the end of it off.  Then get an old wash cloth and rubber band it to the cut end of the bottle.  Dip the wash cloth end into soapy water and blow through the mouth piece.  It makes super fun bubble Snakes.  Tons of fun for sweet boys who think snakes are the coolest thing since sliced bread.
And to think, it's only Tuesday!  Given a few more days, there is no telling what other Pinterest projects I can get into.  What did we do before Pinterest?

Dove Huntin' Duo

Let the Dove Hunting begin.

The didn't come back with too many birds and they were covered in dirt from their heads to their toes.  Heath had a new "ouchie" under his eye, but they weren't shot or snake bit so I consider it a success.

Wee Little Wardens

The boys got new guns and holsters as door prizes for the 4-H banquet we went to this past weekend.
Daddy added the "mini-me" game warden badges to the uniform and told the twins to give their best game warden face.
Come on boys...you can do better than that.
This was the meanest face that Heath could muster.  Looks more like a state of confusion.  Exactly like a Game Warden.  Just Kidding sweetheart!
Hunter looks like the blow fish version of a mean game warden...
...but he couldn't be mean long without cracking a smile.
Either way, you better watch out and be ready for these Wee Wardens...Dove season starts Saturday.
