On a mission to test this out, the boys and I picked a whole bucket full of black ones over the course of a few days. It was difficult to find good black ones that they deer, raccoons, and birds hadn't gotten to first, but we managed.
After washing the fruit, I boiled it so that I could get the juice.
I didn't have any cheese cloth, so I strained it through one of Chris' old t-shirts. (It was clean)
Then I started the jelly making process.
The juice is very black. I would like to call it a dark plum color, but I would be lying....it's black.
The final result is some very tasty.....very black jelly.
I'm a little leery about giving Black Jelly as a gift, so if you want some let me know.
