Bare with me this might get kind of long, but I hope it will be worth it.
Chris and I have been trying to have a baby for a few years now, with not much luck. We have seen countless doctors and have found nothing to work. Every doctor finally pointed us in the direction of
in-vitro fertilization. We were open to the idea, but the cost was so astronomical that we worried and prayed and wondered if that was a road that we should travel down even though we might wind up broke and broken hearted. We prayed that God would point us in the right direction and show us the way we were to go.
Answered Prayer #1--- After months of prayer, I
received an e-mail from a friend that told about a study that a group was doing in Houston. This study was to test a new kind of progesterone in women after
IVF. They were going to do the
IVF for FREE and half of the patients would get the control medication and the other would get the study medication. After a quick phone call and a few study packets later, Chris and I qualified for the study. Our
IVF would be free.
Answered Prayer #2---Going into the study, I knew that the doctors would not want to do this on my time frame, but theirs. I worried about missing so much school and leaving my students. About the time this was going on, the
TYC (Texas Youth Commission,
prison) in Sheffield shut down. Since
Iraan ran the educational part of the
TYC it meant that there were a lot of teachers that needed a place to go until the end of the school year. My wonderful principal snagged one of them up and I now had a certified teacher that would be handling my classes while I was away. Now I could rest easy knowing that my students were in good hands and wouldn't be pulling the wool over a subs eyes.
Answered Prayer #3---While Chris and I were in Houston we had the best time. As my faithful blog readers know we truly had a blast and it was great to get to spend precious quality time with just the two of us. I wouldn't trade that time spent for anything in the world.
Answered Prayer #4--- I was put in the control group for the
progesterone medication. I truly believe that either of the medications that they are using in the study would work, but it gave me peace of mind to know that the medication I am on has already been FDA approved.
Answered Prayer #5--- I found out on Tuesday, May 2nd that I am pregnant! It worked.
Answered Prayer #6--- I found out yesterday, Friday, June 6
th that we are going to have TWINS!!!
Chris and I have been so overly blessed in the past few months and I just wanted to share the
incredible journey. We have learned that God is in complete control and he knew what he wanted to happen in our lives. We have learned that God laughs when you tell him YOUR plan, for he knows his ultimate plan. I will try to scan in the ultrasound pictures later this week, you can't see much but they are pretty cool.
We are not out of the woods yet, it is still really early in the pregnancy and it is still considered very high risk. We appreciate all of the prayers so far and we just ask that you please keep the babies in your prayers, that they might continue to grow and be healthy.
All of our love,
