A few of my favorite things...

I try very hard not to be a "thing" kind of person.  I  realize that there is more to life than things.  However, today I am setting that aside and I'm going to post about the "Things" I got for my birthday, because they are all AWESOME!

My parents got me white front porch rocking chairs.  They are exactly what I wanted!   I got two big ones for Chris and me and two little ones for the boys.  Even when they are not in use, they are absolutely darling sitting on the porch.  There are not many things that I love more than rocking on the front porch during the spring time.  I am really an 80 year old trapped in a 30 year old body.

My in-laws bought me a RED (whoo hoo) Kitchen Aid mixer.  I have always wanted one of these.  To rub it in, my Mom got one for her birthday back in October, only confirming the fact that I needed one.  I love to bake.  I've already made two batches of bread, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and numerous cakes in it.  How did I ever live without this thing?
Cinnamon Bread
 Jelly Roll
 Plain Loaf of Bread
And last, but not least, Chris got me an iPhone.  Talk about how did I live without something?!?!  This thing is AWESOME!  It can do everything!  My parents already laugh at me because I am constantly telling them about a new "app" I found.  Not only can you play super addicting games on it, but it keeps my grocery list, reminds me of things I need to get done, tells me the weather, and has an easy-to-use bible app that helps me look up scriptures quickly.  And don't get me started on all of the "apps" for the boys.  I might have to start an "Amthor App of the Week" post.

I'm so blessed!

The Garden

I love spring time.  I love putting shorts on for the first time and wondering outside to realize that I'm not freezing.  I love watering things and watching them sprout new life.  I love attempting to grow vegetables.  Notice I said attempting.  It doesn't always work out, but I love trying.

Chris' garden
Daddy's got a lot of help.

FYI:   A lot more plants have been added since I took these pictures.
This fence is supposed to keep the deer and varmints out.  Apparently those little varmints can still get in there.

Hopefully soon (if the up coming weather permits) we will have lots of produce to share.

Spring Break Pictures Part 2

Of course, Spring Break wouldn't be spring break with Chris without some fishing tied in somehow.

Here the boys are practicing with their poles before hitting the lake.  Honestly, I think Daddy and Pops were trying to judge just how dangerous this would be with 2- two year olds.

I just had to put this picture in there.  Momma got to go shopping and found these adorable boots for the boys, however, the price was ridiculously high, and they can keep those adorable boots that my boys would grow out of in a few months anyway!
Back to the fishing.  Look we actually made it to the water!
For the record, Momma was the only person to catch a fish on this trip.  Take that, Daddy!!!

After the Zoo on Monday we headed to Sea World on Tuesday.  I do not ever recommend going to Sea World during the week of spring break.  While we still had a blast and the boys loved every minute of it, the lines were atrocious!!!  I think we will go back on a week day during the fall.
 Riding the carousel.

Pops and Uncle Chris with Cookie Monster and the twins.

I think this picture is so neat.  Uncle Chris took Heath down by the glass and the baby whale swam up to them and stared at them for about 5 minutes.  Momma Whale even came by to check on them.
Daddy bought us lighted swords!  Yeah!  More things to beat each other with!!
Back at the cabin the boys LOVED playing in the massive sand pile with Pops.

Later in the week Uncle Chris caught us a couple of fish, since Daddy couldn't seem to manage.  hehe.

What a wonderful week we had!  It was a nice, much needed break from the everyday chaos that is our life.  Now if I could just get the boys back on a normal sleeping schedule...

Spring Break Part 1

We had a blast during spring break spending time with Lolly and Pops.  We left the moment that I got out of school on Friday and arrived later that evening.
The boys had an absolute blast playing with Rowdy, their beloved pup.  Since this picture was taken, Rowdy has gone missing.  If any of you San Saba people know anything about his disappearance, please leave a comment.  These are two very disappointed little boys and a very upset Lolly, Pops and Aunt Katie.
Saturday, while Pops and Daddy went fishing, we went playground hopping with Lolly.
The boys were so adorable.  When they would reach the bottom of the slide the would turn and say, "C`Mon  Lolly," and like the good grandmother she is, she would slide down right behind them.
Our favorite playground was the school's, it had really fun slides.

We left on Monday morning and went to San Antonio to the Zoo.  This was the boys first trip to a zoo and they were fascinated with the animals.

After hours at the zoo, we rode the Zoo train.  This was a highlight for the boys as "Thomas the Train" is a favorite around our house.  Hunter talked about it for days afterwards.

That just takes us through Monday of Spring Break.  Still to come: Sea World, Fishing, Gardening.

Right now we are recuperating from another round of fevers, runny noses, and sore throats.
