The Ending of an Era

I no longer have Twin-y twin boys.  I am finally accepting the fact that they look nothing alike.  Hunter is 3-4 inches taller than Heath and outweighs him by about 5-7lbs.  Heath's hair has a little bit of curl to it and is usually sticking straight up.  Hunter's hair is very straight and shapes his round little face nicely.  Heath has a thinner face and high cheek bones.  Hunter wears 3T-4T clothes, and Heath is in 2T-3T.  They do look very different. (and don't get me started on how different they act, there is not enough room on the Internet to list all of those differences).

However, I guess it really hit home when I was at Sam's the other day and I had the boys sitting side by side in the basket when a lady stopped me.  I prepared myself for the usual 5 minute conversation about how her uncle's step kids twice removed had twins once upon a time, but instead she asked, "So...What's the age difference between your boys?"

Wow!  I stumbled over the answer, because it was a new question for me. I guess I knew deep down that they look different, but I wasn't ready think that they could have been separate.

I smiled and coyly replied, "One minute."

"Oh! Their twins," She exclaimed.  Then she proceeded to tell me about her uncles cousin twice removed that had a set of twins.

Maiden Voyage

I know most of you are going to roll your eyes and tell me that you do this all the time, but please hold your judgement until you finish reading.

I took the boys to town by myself for the first time yesterday.

Yes, I know they are 3 years old and I know how ridiculous it is to have never been to town on your own with your own kids in 3 whole years.  I know.  You see...It's not that I haven't tried, I have planned trips where I did plan to go by myself, but then there always seemed to be someone else that needed to go, too, so they just came along.

It's 90 miles to town and when you finally drive all that way, there is usually a long list of things that need to be done.  It makes for a long day even when the boys aren't with me.  I have to admit...I always welcomed tag alongs.  It gets stressful when the boys have a melt down and it is always comforting to have another set of hands to take care of one boy while I discipline the other.  It's also nice to have someone else who can buckle and unbuckle car seats, and someone who can push an extra cart so I can actually fit groceries in the basket.

I will also admit that after all this time...I was nervous.  I even had a nightmare about it.  It really built up in my head to be a lot more difficult than it was. I packed my purse with lots of distractions and bribes.  I didn't have to use them even once.  The boys were wonderful.  They did great.  There wasn't even one break down.  We even had to go to the dreaded mall and they did great. Amazing!

Now that I know I can, there will definitely be more shopping trips with Momma.  I know I shouldn't have been so nervous about it...it worked out fine.  Stop laughing at me!

Bathtub Fun

We spent a lazy Saturday hanging out in our pjs. I gave the boys some bathtub crayons and let them climb in and have a ball. They loved that there was no water and they colored for almost an hour in those tight quarters before the fights started (impressive if you have ever been around these two). When they were done, I stripped them down and gave them a bath, even though the crayon would have just wiped off with a dry cloth. They had just as much fun washing off the crayon marks as the did putting them on there.

Just Wondering...

Do you think in a few years, I can send them outside with these and they will come back in with all of their disputes settled? Just wondering...

Spring-like Weather in January?!?

Since the weather has been so beautiful the last few days, there is nothing better than doing a little winter yard work. The boys were so cute pushing their little lawn mowers through the leaves. When they would get stuck, brother would come to the rescue and beat down the leaves with the rake. It's hard not to get spring fever with weather like this.

Christmas with Lolly and Pops

This is the last of the Christmas post, I promise.  After this I will be mostly caught up.

While we were at Lolly and Pops for Christmas, Chris took the boys dove hunting.  He would give them a bird he had just shot and they would drive their jeep back down the dirt road and show Pops and me.  Then they would stash it in the carry compartment of the jeep and return to get another bird that Daddy shot.  Too Cute!

They got tons of presents while we were there!

We also got to see our new cousin, Colton, while we were there.  I can't believe that I forgot to get a single picture of Colton and the Twins.  Next time!

Heath's Burn

On New Year's Eve, Heath managed to grab a hold of the fire end of a sparkler.  It melted the skin off of his middle finger and thumb, and blistered his index finger.  We could smell the burning skin.  It burned my sweet baby badly.  It hurt him.  It hurt Momma because it hurt him.  There is no hospital where my in-laws live, so we ended up taking him to the EMS barn.  They told us what to do for it, but gave us no help in relieving his pain.  My sweet boy sat with his hand in a bowl of water for about 5 hours, until he finally fell asleep holding a wet rag.

The next morning, we were finally able to put some Neosporin on it and we were told to wrap it up so it wouldn't get dirty and infected.  We put a Cars band-aid over the top of it, because band-aids help every ouchie.

By the next day, he was his 3 year old self again.  Good thing it was wrapped up or it would have gotten DIRTY!  He didn't slow down again.  It still hurt Momma.

By the time we left Lolly and Pops house the bandage was a luxury that Brother didn't get to have, and Heath, of course, rubbed it in.
His hand is doing much better now.  The burn is drying and starting to heal on his middle finger, and the thumb and index finger are almost completely healed.  Momma is still hurt.

Just Pose for the Picture Already!!!

I love outtakes.  They are way more fun that the perfect picture.  This was our attempt to get a picture of H & H in front of the Christmas tree.

Heath refused, so Daddy jumped in there.

This was the best we got.

It could be, though, that they totally take after their Momma, Aunts, and Mimi.  This was our attempt to get a pajama shot of Mom and her girls.  This one is me having to be drug into such a corny picture in the first place!  Haha

Not bad, but there are too many kids in this picture.

Ahh!  Finally a decent one.

I love Christmas and I love the chance to goof around with my sistas!

Christmas Morning

I know I am crazy behind on my blogging, but I've been soaking up every minute of my Christmas break and absorbing my little boys.

Christmas was a blast at our house this year.  The boys were so excited and thoroughly enjoyed opening all the presents.  They are so spoiled.  Santa brought them a Power Wheels Jeep.  With Monster Traction.  Trust me when I say, this baby will go ANYWHERE.

Santa also brought a Home Depot Workbench.

The boys loved it all!

They automatically used their tools from the workbench to work on the jeep.  They put all the tools in the jeep compartments.

After a while, we bundled up and braved the winter wonderland and drove the jeep outside.

Then, Momma's car got the Boot and it was replaced by the jeep in the nice warm garage.
