Where are my boys?

We went to the doctor yesterday for the boys 4 months shots. Hunter weighs 14 lbs and 11 oz and he is 24 and 1/2 inches long. Heath weighs 14 lbs and 1 oz and he is 25 inches long. They were both healthy and good to go, but are cranky today because of their shots.

I think these pictures are funny because, unless you look closely, you can only see their heads and hands.

My precious boys, these are my favorite outfits.

Our 1st fishing trip

Well, anyone who knows my husband, knows it was only a matter of time before we had pictures like these. We went to San Saba for Chris's birthday and he did rather well fishing. The boys and I stayed at the cabin with Grandma, but we did pose nicely for the pictures.

Right after this picture was taken, one of the fish flopped onto Hunter. He didn't mind a bit, he just looked at it. Momma minded, and we promptly got out the wipes and tried to get the fish smell off of my precious baby.

Common Statements

Now that we are able to go out and about with the boys, we are amazed how much attention twins bring. It seems that everyone stops and stares. Chris and I find it funny some of the questions and comments that we get.

1) Are they twins?
What I want to say- DUH! They are in matching outfits, matching carriers, and they are about the same size! Nope, this one on the left is a year older, he just is short.
2) Are they natural?
What I want to say- As opposed to …aliens, Frankenstein…what kind of question is that? What is an un-natural baby? This is just a way to pry into our infertility lives (which is a story that I don't mind sharing), I just think this is a rude way to ask.

3)Do twins run in your family?
What I want to say- they can't even crawl yet, but I'm sure when they can, they'll be running all over the place.
4) Boy, do you have your hands full!
What I want to say- I do have my hands full, but it’s my heart that is overflowing!
5) (MY Least favorite)I’m glad they are not mine.
What I want to say- I’m glad they are not yours, too!!!

I could go on and on. I'm sure Amy could relate.
Also, we were on house arrest for so long, I am having a real hard time getting adjusted to being around people. I am constantly analyzing about how many germs that last person had on them and who they have been around that might have been sick. I'll admit, I use more wipes on the boys hands and face than on their bottoms, and I have Germ-X stashed everywhere. I'm starting to get better, but I still hyperventilate when someone coughs 100 yards away.

4 months (just a few days late)

The boys are now 4 months old and they are very busy (as I'm sure Keva can report). They are eating cereal morning and night and are having numerous bottles of milk and juice a day. They are smiling and cooing a lot and are very aware of what is going on. They can both roll from their bellys to their backs and they are growing more each day. We will go to the doctor next week and I will report official weights and lengths. I couldn't love them more.

This video is of Heath eating cereal. The boys have been at it for about 3 weeks. Heath has really got it down and I think it is his favorite time of the day. In the video he is too busy talking and smiling to get much cereal in his mouth.

This video is of Hunter eating his cereal. He is not as wild about it as Heath is because it is so much easier and quicker to drink from a bottle. He is coming around though. He still spits a lot of it out and you really have to be quick when you feed him. He is pretty happy in the video, too, but you have to listen (because Daddy is talking) to hear him coo.

BTW, We have found the perfect formula, Enfamil Gentlease. It has definitely fixed the constipation problem. I might have to pay Keva more!!

My 4th Grader's Projects

My fourth graders made Clay Animations to finish off our unit on Idioms. I love teaching idioms and could do it all year. I would love for you to check out their creations. They worked very hard, but remember, they are 4th graders. Let me know which one you like best.

Asleep at the Wheel

***Caution- I do not suggest driving your car like Hunter does

Chris and I put the boys in their cars while we sat down to eat supper tonight. They played for a while and we actually got to eat a full meal without one of us having to hold them. However, while we were cleaning the kitchen this is how we found Hunter.

He never even woke when I rolled him into the living room. Playing with Mrs. Keva everyday must wear him out.
On another note-
Heath just discovered yesterday that he has a BROTHER!!! They were sitting in their cars beside each other and Heath just stared at Hunter for a good 5 minutes. It was like he was wondering where that kid came from. Every now and then he would even laugh and talk to him. I found this too funny.

Picture Post

Here are some more random pictures from the last few days.

Here are the boys at bible class for the first time. It was a pretty small class, but I'm sure they learned a lot with Mimi and Kali. I was pretty impressed. They stayed in the chairs and quiet for about 30 of the 45 minute class.
OK, so Heath slept for the first 15 minutes. I didn't want to wake him because he was VERY grouchy before church.
Here they are learning that God made the little piggies.

"We brush, brush, brush our hair....for our bible class." Mimi comes up with the funniest songs!

Our family posing for an Easter picture.

Here are the boys with their cousin Zoe.

Heath, Zoe, Hunter

I tried to get Easter pictures in their "My First Easter" t-shirts that their Grandma gave them. This was the best I got...they didn't want to pose.

Heath's Easter Shirt. They are a little big, the boys look like they are wearing football pads.

Hunter giving his most innocent look. (Don't let it fool you :))

Heath letting you know what he thought of his first cereal feed.

Hunter eating cereal for the first time. I'm not sure how much got in either of their mouths.
Daddy trying out the carrier. Goofy dad!

Teaching Hunter a football stance

Video of the boys eating cereal. It didn't go well. I guess we all need more practice.

Our first trip to church and other pictures

Like Amy Grigsby, we've been set free. Yeah! Finally after almost 4 months of life, we get to take the boys to church.

Here are the boys dressed and ready to go to church. We had been saving these outfits because they are so nice. We just took their pictures with the matching hats because, as Chris said, "We are not having a blizzard."

With all of my family around, do you really think that I got to hold my own child during church? Mom stole Hunter the moment we sat down.

Heath got to sit with Daddy for just a little while until Aunt Kay came to steal him.The boys started their nap time before Church was over. So, when we got home, I just let them sleep in the carriers.

Here are a few miscellaneous pictures from the last few weeks.

Daddy entertaining the boys with is guitar skills. Quite entertaining.

Cousin Kali trying out the Bumbos.

Hunter

My first few days back at school were OK. I guess they weren't too terrible. I really missed the boys, but they were always in good hands. It's nice to see their faces light up when I come back.

I took the boys to the doctor yesterday to get their last RSV shot. Currently, Heath weighs 13lbs, 5 oz and is 23 and 1/2inches long 23rd percentile. Hunter weighs 13lbs and 13 oz and is 23 inches long and is in the 25th percentile.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's back to school I go

It's a sad day. Tomorrow my maternity leave is officially over and I have to go back to work. To say that I reallllllly don't want to is such an understatement. Keva (of Keva Dawn Photography)is going to keep them. I couldn't ask for a better babysitter for the last 8 weeks of school. I know my students are anxious to see me and are either really excited about my return or dreading it just as much as I am. It just depends on the student you ask. I guess 3 and 1/2 months is a long time for a maternity leave, but at least it is just 8 weeks (or 33 school days, Thanks Gina) until summer.

When I told Heath, he just asked if he was still going to get fed, and decided to eat his hands...just in case.

My sweet Hunter-Bo was very upset about the news. Look at that bottom lip.

By the way, did you know it is National Multiple Births Awareness Month. I didn't even know there was such a thing.

More prayers needed

Update on the Updated Update***Whiltey is not doing well and having a very hard time breathing. Please view their blog for the full story. Please keep praying. http://jtself.blogspot.com/

Updated Update*** Names are Whitley Faith and Wyatt Jared. Just received word asking for prayers for Whitley. I'm not sure of the details.

UPDATE*** Both babies are here now. Jared said they appeared healthy. That's about all I know.

For those of you who read my prayer request post from a few days ago, Teri and Jared need more prayers. Jared called this morning and Teri is dilated to a 4. The doctor said that baby A (the girl) will be delivered today. They were not sure about baby B, they are hoping to hold off on delivering him. Teri is 28 weeks and 1 day, today. God has blessed them to allow her to carry the babies this far, and I know that it is in his hands. Please pray for the safe arrival of both babies (whenever it may be), for the doctors and nurses, and of course for Jared and Teri.

Does this make me a bad mother?

OK, I only do it on rare occasions, but it will keep them quiet and entertained for at least 5 minutes. Some days this is the only way that I can change a load of laundry or do the dishes. Do I get more points if they watch a Baby Einstein DVD?
