Thank You God for Watching Over My Husband and Alan

This past weekend, Chris and my cousin, Alan, learned the hard way that even Game Warden trucks cannot fly. Chris flipped his truck in a cement culvert while working late on Saturday night. Neither one of them was hurt, but they did have some bumps and bruises. We all spent from 1am to 4 am in the emergency room so they could run test, and all we found out is that they are both hard headed and that God was truly watching out for them.

Just a little late...

Two weekends ago, my mom, Chris and I traveled to San Saba because the sweet ladies there were throwing us a baby shower. We got tons of cute things, but most of all we really enjoyed getting to see our family and friends from San Saba.

Nursery and Doctor's Appointment

I've almost got the nursery put together. We finally got the furniture put together and in the appropriate places. Now, I just need to get the rest of the baby things in their proper place in the nursery. I think the camouflage and baby blue are looking cuter together every time I walk in there.

At my weekly doctors appointment this week, we saw that the boys are doing just fine and are growing perfectly. The doctor put me on half day restrictions. She was afraid that my body might think that I have one 8 lb baby instead of two smaller ones, and she thinks I might be working too hard and doing too much at school so she has ordered me to only work for half of a day. I had to talk her out of making me quit work all together by promising I would sit down a lot at work. My 4th grade TAKS writers are not quite ready for me to leave them yet. I had a long talk with the babies and they promised to stay put until I felt that most of my students could pass the test without me there every day. However, if the babies should change their minds...I have a wonderful substitute that is taking over, and I know she will do great.

The curtains, the mural, and the Doctor

My wonderful mother made the curtains for the nursery. They have four different materials, consisting of one camo, one that has fish and a light blue back ground and two different baby blue materials. I really think that with the camo baby bedding, the blue on the windows will really add color to the room. I think that the furniture has come in, and Chris will be able to go get them in Austin while we are in San Saba this weekend. It is all starting to come together.

Once again my mom proved how awesome she is, and painted a mural on the wall in the nursery. It has a large tree and two little deer, one on each side. The pictures do not do this art work justice. It really is awesome.

I had a doctors appointment this morning and we got to see the babies on the sonogram machine. Both of the boys are doing fine and they are growing at a rapid rate. They both weigh 3 pounds and 10 ounces. That is a little larger than the doctors would like, they are in the 77 percentile, and at 80% they start to worry. I just hope that I can keep them in there until their little lungs and brains develop. I have to go back to the sonogram specialist every week now to monitor the babies and make sure that they are both moving enough.
Keep the boys in your prayers.

A Whole New Halloween Experience

Since Halloween fell on "Friday night football" night, school was a very busy and unproductive day. Each teacher took his/her class to the High School, Junior High, Administration Building, and up and down the halls of the elementary to trick or treat at each classroom. Since I have never experienced taking kids trick or treating, it was completely new to me. My class has 10 boys and 3 girls and it was a wild ride. Needless to say, when we got back to class, I was exhausted and my feet were swollen to twice their normal size. I have to know...is it always that wild when you take your own children trick or treating?

When we got back to the classroom, however, I was completely amazed at how they all sat at their desks and sorted, admired, and quietly traded their candy. They were completely engrossed in looking at their loot for at least an hour, and knowing that we were fixing to go to lunch...they didn't eat that much. Amazing!

I'm sure in a few years when my boys are old enough for trick or treating I won't be so amazed by this, but I did find this experience...enlightening.
