We've Moved!

We have officially moved into our new house.  I forgot how exhausting moving can be.

While Chris and I were unloading boxes and furniture, I bet the boys made a million laps around the house on their scooters. The surrounding sidewalk is definitely one of Hunter's favorite parts.
Heath's favorite part about the new house would have to be the numerous new bugs he can find.  We have had many, many talks about the kinds of bugs he can and cannot pick up.  I have random coffee cans all over that are filled with caterpillars and moths.  One even has a lizard.  Who needs an exterminator when you have a Heath.
While we were packing and unloading, I noticed that I had seen Hunter run though a few times, but I hadn't seen Heath in a while.  After a tiny amount of panic and frantically looking and calling for him, we finally noticed the tuckered out football player, asleep in the chair.  I guess moving is hard work for all of us.

T-Ball 2014

This year the twins are on the Maroon team.  Their daddy and Kurt are the coaches.  They are much more into playing the game than they were last year.  They are so fun to watch and they look really handsome in their uniforms!

Easter 2014

School Easter Party

Three Amigos

Heath, Canna, Hunter.  Canna is the only girl they allow in their group.  She is pretty awesome!

Easter egg hunting at Mimi and Papa's house.

This is Easter Sunday, before church, before they got those pastel shirts dirty.  We did an Easter egg hunt with our church friends after church, but Momma forgot her camera.
They loved it.  They loved all of the candy and money.  What a blast!

Busy as a Bee

Things that are happening in my life right now:

  • Preparing my students for the 2nd round of STAAR testing next week. Review. Review. Review
  • Packing my house up.
  • Moving (the house is finished except for a few cosmetic things that will be done this weekend, so we are packing and moving) We hope to be completely moved in by the 25th.
  • Tree watering.  We have beautiful new big trees at our new house, but they have to be watered by hand every other day until the sprinkler system goes in.  I'm not complaining, they are beautiful trees. This picture was taken from my new bathtub looking out.

  • Easter.  I don't want the boys to miss out on Easter just because we are busy and moving, so I'm attempting to fit that in also.  I'm not sure when we are going to die eggs, but we ARE going to do that.
  • Easter party.  Today is the boys school Easter party.  We had to bring eggs and snacks. I have to go hide the eggs in about 10 minutes.
  • T-ball.  Every Tuesday and Thursday from now and on into the foreseeable future, this is what we will be doing.
  • Chris' birthday is this Sunday.  Yes, Easter Sunday.
  • Our dog ran away.  We spent two days looking for him.  Some men found him and brought him back.
  • Owen made me this 6 foot "ruler."  In the current house, I have been marking the twins heights on the wall in the playroom.  I can't take that wall with me.  So,  Owen made me this so I can transfer their heights and mark new heights at our new house.

  • Teaching bible class on Wednesday nights.
  • New furniture is being delivered to our house on Friday.  Normally this wouldn't be a big deal, but since I don't have an address at the new house and the delivery company will never be able to find the house, someone will have to wait in town for them and give them an escort when they arrive.  (Between the hours of 12 and 4pm, anyone want to place bets on that??)
  • Planning the boys birthday party.  We are  having a Pirate theme this year.  We aren't waiting until summer this year, so the party will be in May.
So this is me.  If you are wondering why my head is spinning in circles, this is why.

Parenting is Hard!

Today, Heath had a bad day. His behavior at school was less than desirable. In turn, I had a bad day. I worried all afternoon about my parenting skills, the kind of children I am raising, and whether or not they will ever be productive citizens. At school I administered punishments to Heath and talked to him about his behavior. I was furious with the way he acted. Later in the afternoon with prompting from my mom and husband, I decided to let it go. He had been talked to and punished, it was time to let him start fresh. When we got home this afternoon, I pulled Heath into my lap and reminded him how much I love him.  I told him that we all have bad days and that he just needed to strive to be better from that point on. Then I wrapped him in a long hug. During that hug, tears poured from my eyes because I do love that kid, and parenting is hard...

....then he blew a raspberry on my arm. I laughed, gave the boy a kiss, and sent him on his way. I was reminded that just because you have a bad day doesn't mean you have a bad life. I am incrediably blessed. Tomorrow is a new day.

There's Monday, then There's Tuesday

While waking Heath up for school the other day he was so excited to find out that it was Monday morning. He hopped out of bed and threw his clothes on exclaiming that first comes Monday and then comes Tuesday, and with Tuesday comes T-ball practice. He's not usually not a big sports fan but with the new T-ball bat he got, maybe this year will be a little different.
