Pumpkins!

Our Halloween tradition is to carve pumpkins with our besties.

The dads are really learning to step up their game in the pumpkin carving.

A few days later we carved one more pumpkin that we had at the house.  Chris and the boys worked so hard on it after school.  They carved out a black widow spider and the web.  The pumpkin looked awesome.  When they were done, Chris put it outside with the promise that just before bedtime we would go outside and light it and take pictures.  Then we all came in and got busy cooking supper and doing homework.  As promised, we all headed outside at dark only to find that our dog had drug in into the yard and he and the deer had proceeded to demolish it and have themselves a snack.  There was no more pumpkin left.  It lasted less than 2 hours.

October Junior Brave - Heath

Heath was selected for his Kindergarten class to be the October Junior Brave. When he got the letter announcing his achievement he was beyond excited!
He even took the letter to the football game to show it off to Aunt Amy and Aunt Kay.
This little guy is having a great year so far, and he loves his teacher.
Mimi and Papa got to come eat with him in the cafeteria and watch the awards ceremony.
I'm so proud of you Heath.

Denver, Colorado

This past week our little family took a trip to Denver, Colorado to see an allergy specialist up there.  We decided to drive because flying was too expensive.  It made for a fun little road trip, and we all had a blast.

The boys rode in the car for a little way in their pjs.  They slept for about the first 2 hours.
The first night we stopped in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  The next morning we made a detour and rode the train up to the top of Pike's Peak.  Notice the boys are eating ice cream and Chris is drinking coffee.  It was 88 degrees at the bottom of the mountain.
It was the perfect time of year.  The aspen trees are turning a beautiful vibrant yellow.
The streams and waterfalls that were along the train tracks were gorgeous.

The views at the top of Pike's Peak were breathtaking.  I can definitely see why they inspired the song "America the Beautiful."
It was 30 degrees at the top.
That evening, we drove the rest of the way into Denver, Colorado.  We had a little bit of time before supper so we decided to let the boys try out their Top Golf skills.
The next morning was the doctor's appointment.  Chris and Heath were both retested for their allergies.  Heath amazingly sat perfectly still and let the doctor draw blood from his arm.  He was fascinated with the blood shooting out of his arm and into the tube.  However, he lost it when it was time for his allergy testing.  Hunter and I stood outside the room, and Hunter cried because we could hear Heath crying so hard.
We headed home after that, and spent two more days on the road to get home.  It was exhausting and we may have gone a little stir crazy.
We are so glad to be home and back at school.  I will update about the new allergy treatments in a few weeks if we see results.

Mimi's Blankets

Heath caught Mimi making travel blankets for his cousins. They were red and black school colors for them to carry on the bus for out of town school events. The nephews love them, but Heath was majorly jealous.

Right then, he declared that Mimi needed to make him an orange blanket. Then he proceeded to dig through her material and pick out what he wanted. What grandma can resist that????

Today, Mimi delivered his new blanket and he hasn't been more than a foot away from it all afternoon. He loves it!
Of course, Mimi couldn't leave brother out, so he chose green for his blanket. He loves it!  They are so comfy and so soft.
Mama may steal them.

Country Comes to Town

The boys have learned a new song. I'm sure from school because it's not the type of music Chris and I listen to.

The boys: we can whip, whip and we can nae, nae....

Chris: Boy, what's a nae, nae?

Boys: You know Dad, like a horse goes neigh, neigh.

September Happenings

We had "Preppy Day" at school. We don't do preppy very well at our house, but I managed to scrounge this together.
We saw the blood moon and the eclipse.  This called for a family selfie.
We love watching our favorite football player on Friday nights. He loves us too!
This little man shot these two dove All. By. Himself!!
