Working the Weekend

This past weekend we had some men come to install new attic vents on our roof to hopefully make it easier to keep the house cool in the summer time.

We also hired the nephews to come and clean the outside of the house.  This included the front and back yards, the garden, and the porches.

Daddy cleaned out his shed in the back yard, to make it easier to load and move (hopefully soon!).

The twins helped out by "poop scooping."  They have the most adorable little shovels and little leather work gloves and they worked hard right along side the nephews.  The were a lot cheaper than the nephews, too.  We paid them with orange Gatorade from Allsups.

A Rock for my Brother

Hunter is sick today with the cough and fever so he got the chance to stay at home and have Mama all to himself. We made a trip to the doctor's office, and as we were leaving he found a shiny pink rock in the parking lot. He insisted he pick it up, and he save it for his brother because he "missed him."  When we got home Hunter put it in a special place and saved it for when he could give it to Heath.

This afternoon Hunter and I went to go pick up Heath from school. As Heath climbed into the truck he presented Hunter with a shiny rock he had found himself. And as Heath gave Hunter the rock he said, "It's because I missed you."

I instantly burst into tears because I knew that there was also a rock sitting at home waiting for Hunter to give to Heath. They really did miss each other. They really do love each other. And they know that they both have a fondness for shiny pretty rocks.

Spring Break 2014

This past week was spring break from school.  A very much needed spring break I might add.

We played it pretty low key, but did manage to get away for a few days.  We went with our neighbors to their lake house at Lake Amistad.  The boys had a blast riding in their boat and fishing.  They even managed to catch a few fish from the bank.  We also went into Del Rio and went to Mr. Gattis.  They loved that part.  We did a little bit of hiking and a lot of back porch sitting (which was Momma's favorite part).

Also, during spring break, we went to San Angelo to get a few groceries.  We had lunch at a hibachi grill.  The boys weren't real sure about it.  Heath didn't like the fire.  They both weren't real fond of the food until we let them eat with chop sticks, then they thought the food was great and they loved getting the food from their plates to their mouth.

A trip to town for us is not complete with out the boys favorite part: the automatic car wash (they are easy to please).  They especially love the car wash since my new truck has a sun roof.  They can watch from a different angle.

A few more happenings that I want to be sure not to forget:

Chris left the boys "working" on the Xterra while he looked for the oil filter to change the oil.  Upon his return, they had loosened and removed a number of bolts.  Ooops.  That car may never run the same again.

Hunter successfully ate all of his supper and was rewarded with a piece of cake.  Heath, also, ate all of his supper but asked for a corn dog instead of cake.  So we gave him a corn dog.  Heath isn't real big on sweet stuff.

PreK field trip

Today was our very first field trip. We got to ride on the very large school charter bus, and we went to the commemorative Air Force museum to look at air planes. We had a blast.
After the museum we ate lunch at a park, then got to play for a little while before heading home.

It was exhausting!

Momma's Birthday

My birthday came and went. My awesome hubby got up early (without complaining) and made me breakfast.
We had a crazy day that included: school, open house, a project graduation spaghetti supper, the one act play, and a meeting with the tile guy for the new house.

My students gave me birthday presents. I may have once mentioned that I love Reese's.

The Last Stock Show of the Season

San Angelo

Mimi entered out fabulous photographers pictures in the art show. We thought they were awesome.
We fed all kinds of cool animals.
We took naps in odd places.
We listened to a few educational animal showes.
...and last but certainly not least, we took in the carnival.
