Superhero Birthday Party 4 1/2

As I usually tend to do, I went a little overboard on the twins 1/2 birthday party this year.  It was a  Superhero theme and the boys were Super excited about it.

Mimi sewed 20 superhero capes and embroidered each one with a different superhero character for boys and girls that attended the party.
Mrs. Keva came down with her family and stayed the weekend with us.  After making the cake on Friday night, we spent ALL day on Saturday before the party decorating the back yard.
This was the city scape that was going to be the back drop for the cake table.

This was one of the games we had set up.  Each "Evil Villan" green balloon was filled with candy.  One at a time, each child was given a Nerf gun with a dart that had a tack glued to the end.  When they shot the "Evil Villan" the candy fell out like a mini pinata`.  All of our Superheros had a chance to take down the "Evil Villans."

Unfortunately, about 30 minutes before the party started it began to rain and hail.  At first I thought it might be a quick little shower to cool things off and then it would be over.  I was wrong.

It rained for another 45 minutes after the party started.  We had to move everything and everyone inside.  It was God's way of telling me that I over plan.  Everything turned out alright.
Even our "photo booth" had to be moved inside.

After a while, the sun came out and dried out the water and we were at least able to play our balloon pop game.  The kids loved it.
It was a SUPER fun birthday party.  Happy 4 1/2 Heath and Hunter!

The Babysitter Files: The Final Episode

Today I made my very last payment to the babysitter.  Wow.  I don't exactly know how I feel about that.  On one hand, I'm ecstatic that I will have a little bit more money to spend on other things, but on the other hand, I am so sad that my babies are old enough to start school next year.  My babysitter is more than I could have ever hoped for.  She has taught the boys so much and has lovingly cared for them when I couldn't be there.  She loves them as much as I do and I know they are safe in her care.  She is their Grandma, after all.  Who could ask for more?

So, in honor of 7 more days of school left and the VERY LAST babysitter payment, we will have our final instalment of "The Babysitter Files." Sorry about the picture quality.

This awesome babysitter/Mimi has been doing some serious sewing for the boys upcoming birthday party.  The boys have become fascinated with her embroidery machine and love to sit with her and watch it. (I can't get the picture to turn, but this is Heath watching the sewing machine work)

The text read, "Guess Who's Feet!"

For a few days during standardized testing at school, Kali, got to take the day off and hang out with Mimi, too.  Mom sent this picture at 7:10am.  They were already having a tea party.  See what girls do to the party???  Stay far away from them, boys!

Kali did also bring superhero capes for them all to play with, so I guess we will let her stay.

Hunter and Kayin put Heath (the puppy) to bed in the bathtub, because that is where all sweet little doggies sleep.

The Trailer.  It is probably their favorite place to play at Mimi's house.  Dad went to go use this trailer the other day and before he could hook up to it he had to find all of the chains and cords that had been removed by the trio.  Once he was hooked up and he pulled the trailer forward all of the stuff fell off of it.  The car ramps at the back fell out because the bolts had been removed, as well as other items like the spare tire and electric cords.  He wasn't the happiest Grandpa.  It took him a while to put his trailer back together.  Mimi and I thought it was pretty funny though.
"Look Mimi, we are Spiderman!"
Heath helping Papa haul trash.  Any excuse to get to ride in the Ranger.

TEXT MESSAGES FROM THE BABYSITTER:

*Me: How are the boys today?
Mom: Doing good.  Fixed Noodles and meat for lunch.  Heath and Hunter ate the noodles.  Kayin ate the meat.  Papa ate it all.

*Mom: Hunter said his dad says, "Dang It."  I asked him why his dad said that and he replied, "Because we are not asleep or have gotten out of bed."  (So True!)

*Mom: I guess one good thing about having to get a bar of soap out of the potty is....you can wash your hands with it????

The boys are going to miss going to the babysitters/Mimi's house everyday.  The good news is that they will be in Aunt Kay's PreK class next year.  Stay tuned for "Aunt Kay's PreK files" next year.

Dynasty of Faith

This past weekend, my mom, my sister,  my sister's BFF, and I traveled to Midland to go to the Dynasty of Faith fundraiser for Lubbock Christian University.  It was put on by the stars of the hit TV show Duck Dynasty.  The men were awesome.  Their talks were awesome, and the fact that they can have a reality TV show and still maintain their faith in God and their love of family is AWESOME!  They were inspirational and hysterical.  I enjoyed every second of it and didn't even realized that I had sat on hard, cold bleacher seats for over two hours when it was all said and done.  The pictures aren't the greatest.  We weren't in the nose bleed section, but were weren't in the "pull their beards" rows either.

I highly recommend going to Dynasty of Faith if they come to a town near you.

Muddy Buddy

This past weekend my family and I traveled to Johnson City and joined our Aunt Sharon in running the Muddy Buddy.  This event was pretty special to us because it benefited Prostate Cancer which is what my Papa passed away from.  We spent months training (some of us more than others :)) and we were super excited when the day finally came. Dad and Kay made up one team.  Aunt Sharon, Amy, and I made up the other team.  Owen and Colby made up a third team (They ran faster than we did and placed 5th over all.  I don't have pictures of them.).

I made a cake with five piggies rolling in the mud just to get us in the mood.

Our before picture.

Ready to race!

The course was 4.5 miles and included 10 different obstacles including cargo nets, rope climb, and river wading.  Unfortunately, the camera man wasn't up for following us so the beginning and end are all the pictures we have.

Here is the fab five coming around the final bend.

Over the final wall...

...and into the mud pit.

The little piggies rolling in the mud.  Notice Aunt Sharon doing the back stroke.

Coming out of the mud pit.  Careful Crystal, it's slippery.

Crossing the line together.  By the way, that is NOT our time.  We finished the race in 1 hour and 25 minutes.  Not too bad.

After...

We finished!  It was so much fun.  Sharon, Amy and I finished in 2nd place in the group division for our heat, and Dad and Kay won the Beast division for our heat.  We are kind of awesome like that!

Thank you Aunt Sharon for convincing us to join you.  We had a great time and I can't wait until the next one!

Kid Fish 2013

This past weekend we had our annual kid fish at the Nature Preserve.  The boys had a blast because they are officially old enough to participate and win prizes.  They won too many prizes and they had a blast doing it.
Daddy and Aunt Kay helping my little fishermen.
Hunter showing me he can do it himself!
Heath working the reel.  Look at that beautiful scenery behind him.  Love it.
Look Mom!  I caught one!
Team Work!

Rule Followers

We have a new rule at our house.  The boys are not allowed to climb in the tree in our back yard when their daddy is not home.  You see, I don't do well in emergency situations.  I might even be know to run away and throw up rather than help the individual needing attention.  So when the boys discovered that they are now big enough to push the table up to the tree and climb up, we quickly needed to set a few limits.  I can just imagine the injuries that are going to come from that tree.  I know there will be stitches and broken arms, and I hope nothing worse.  Their daddy needs to be there and be in charge when this happens.

The rule: NO CLIMBING IN THE TREE UNLESS DADDY IS HOME.

This past weekend, Chris was out of town and the boys and I spent a lot of time in the back yard (not climbing the tree).  Sunday evening, when I heard his truck pull up, I quickly asked the boys to go and check to see who was here.  My sweet little Heath, ran through the house, saw Chris's truck, and quickly made a u-turn.  He was at least 6 feet up in the tree before Chris made it in the house with his suitcase.

He had waited all weekend long, and now he was officially not breaking the rule.
