Christmas at Lolly and Pop's

After Christmas we traveled to Chris's parents to celebrate with them. We were greeted by their massive 12 foot Christmas tree.

The boys were taken back, that thing was HUGE!

They gave the boys their presents right away so they could go ahead and play with them. The boys loved their new trucks.

The next day, Lolly threw the boys a birthday party and invited all of the cousins. What fun!

We were all too blessed this holiday season. We all go everything we wanted and more. My house looks like Toys R` Us puked in the living room, but I'm sure we will find a place for everything. The best part was the family, food, and fun. Who needs gifts when you have that.

8th Anniversary

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in truth. It always protects, always trust, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

1 Corinthians 13: 4-8

Today, Chris and I have been married for 8 wonderful years. We decided that with Christmas and the boys birthday surrounding our anniversary that the date tended to be overlooked. I don't want it to be overlooked because the anniversary of our marriage is important. It means more to me that some flowers and a hug as we fly out the door to spend our holiday time with family. How many times have we done the "This is your Christmas/Anniversary present?" So this year, in an effort to make each of us actually stop and THINK about our anniversary we decided that we would find a traditional gift for one another symbolizing the year of our anniversary. Example: 8th year = Bronze or Pottery. We did set a dollar amount limit, too.

I thought that Chris had it pretty easy. I went to Amazon.com and typed in Bronze and I loved the first 10 things that came up. All were within budget. And Chris did great! He got me a bronze statue of a man and a woman hugging. It's beautiful.

However, women, can you think of anything in the Bronze/Pottery category that your husband would love? There was nothing for a man. Nothing. After MONTHS of research I finally found out some enlightening information...fishing hooks are made of bronze. So that's what he got....fishing hooks, of every size and shape. It was the perfect gift for him.

The beauty of the whole thing was that the "project" made us actually stop and think about one another. In our research, we thought and reminisced about the time we have spent together. It was no longer about the gift. It made it so much more. I know that Chris really put time and effort into it because he had to use his brain, not just his credit card.

So...start thinking about next year and give me some ideas. 9th anniversary =Pottery or Willow.

Hmmm...

Chuck E. Cheese

We had a big birthday party for the boys this summer so we could avoid the holiday season. So for the boys REAL birthday, we took the family out to Chuck E. Cheese. It took the boys a little while to warm up to the chaos of the place, but once they did, there was no slowing them down! They loved it.

Even Papa won some candy with his tickets. He shared with me. Yummy!
This was Heath when we left. Too much fun + Too much sugar = Crazy Hyped Up Child!

FYI- I did better than you would think about the germs. I just had to take a big breath and doll out the hand sanitizer when it was all said and done. No one has come down with a disease...yet. By the way, is it just me or should we question a restaurant that has a RAT as a mascot?!?!

You Two, Are 2

too sweet...

too funny...

too wonderful...

You're two.

too squeezable...

too wonderful...

too cute...

You're two.

And your mama is too shocked at how quickly time passes.

You are my favorite 2yr olds on the planet,
You're like a breath of fresh air.Love you more than I could ever express - my heart truly overflows when I think of you.

Happy Birthday, my loves!

A Two Year Old

A two year old is so many things.
A tiny discoverer of butterfly wings.
A hugger of teddies, a sweet sleepy head.
And someone to dream for in bright years ahead.
A special new person who right from the start,
has a place in the family and a coarse in your heart.
And just when you think you've learned all the things,
that your dear son is,and the joy that he brings,
a hug or a grin comes with such a sweet surprise,
that love finds you smiling with tears in your eyes.

How to Decorate a Christmas Tree

Heath and Hunter and their sidekick, Kayin

The babysitter (aka Mom) shot the cutest video of the boys in action decorating the tree, however, after trying to upload it ALL day, I have decided if you really want to see the video you will have to come to my house to watch it. I am very miffed at blogger at the moment.
