23 months

I don't want to blink, because I know the moment I do, I will have 2YEAR OLDS!

At 23 Months Heath:
  • Is still my quiet one, but when he thinks you aren't listening he will babble and talk to himself quite a lot. Mimi says he just has a lot to get off of his chest.
  • Knows most of his letters, but would prefer to tell you his colors.
  • Takes his breathing treatments well.
  • Still doesn't like vegetables.
  • Gets hot easily and kicks off his pj pants and covers every night.
  • Loves, loves, loves bath time.
  • We have to spell S-H-O-E-S around him because it automatically means he goes outside.
  • Pushes his limits and smiles at me when he is doing something he knows he shouldn't.
  • Makes the most realisitc cat sounds.
  • Definately has his daddy's temper.
  • Likes to cuddle.
  • Patiently tries to figure out how toys or other items work.
  • about 23 pounds.

At 23 months, Hunter:
  • Is a ball of energy!
  • Talks all the time.
  • Knows his letters, colors, numbers, and is working on his shapes. You should hear him say "Octagon."
  • Will eat most anything I put on his tray, but really LOVES fruits and vegetables.
  • Is always cold and wakes up in the middle of the night so I can put the covers back on him.
  • When I ask him if he is ready for a bath, he quickly replies that he wants to take a shower instead.
  • If he is doing something wrong, it only takes a stern look from me and he will burst into tears.
  • Gives hugs and kisses occasionally but usually doesn't slow down enough to give them.
  • Can throw a football clear across the room, with force. Pretty sure I'm raising a quarterback.
  • Follows directions well, but doesn't LIKE to put up his toys.
  • Tries to make sure Heath follows the rules. He likes to pretend he is the "enforcer."
  • about 26 pounds.

They both are my pride and joy. I couldn't love them more. They are so busy and it is exhausting, but I can't remember what my life was like without them.

What We've Been Up To

We enjoyed the last weekend of dove season...

...and we helped Daddy fix (ride) his four wheeler.

That's about it. Happy Monday.

Am I Ready for This?

I know Hunter is...but I don't think I am.

Hunter quite frequently tells me (or Mom) when he needs to go to the bathroom. He has been doing this for a while. He doesn't like when he is "dirty," and will request to be changed immediately. I know that he is starting to understand the concept, however, I'm the reluctant one.

I'm not sure that I'm ready. You see, when my babies are potty trained, I can no longer call them my babies any more. I know that I can't put it off any longer, so...here we go.

I bought two potty chairs this past weekend and put them together last night. Hunter was over joyed and told me numerous times that he needed to go. I stripped him down and set him on it numerous times. Numerous times...nothing happened. So when I got them out of the bath last night and Hunter started saying he needed to go, I ignored him. Hey, in my defence, I had two soaking wet boys that needed clothes and diapers before they froze to death. So, while Hunter cried that he needed to go potty, I dressed Heath. That's when it happened, Hunter peed all over the living room floor. (Where is Chris when you need him?) Poor Baby.

I learned my lesson and will now spend the rest of my life sitting with the poor child while he is on the potty being UnProDuCtiVe! I told you...I'm not ready for this, but ready or not...here it comes.

Heath thinks it's a really cool new chair to sit on but doesn't have any desire to do anything else. I have definitely decided I'm going to potty train Hunter first and hope that Heath is encouraged by what Hunter is doing.

Wish me luck!

Halloween 2010

What an exhausting weekend! We had a blast, but one can only take so much fun.

It started on Friday, when all kids (and teachers) wore their costumes to school. Absolutely no learning was done that day. It's really hard to teach students who are wearing mask and are hyped up on sugar. I forfeited.

As soon as school was over, we went to the fall festival. That is where "The Cat in the Hat" met up with "Thing 1" and "Thing 2." I LOVE the blue shower caps as their hair!

Mrs. Keva let them play at her booth a little extra time. They loved putting the rings on the coke bottles.

After the Fall Festival we went and had our pictures made at Mrs. Keva's house. Look for those in a blog coming soon.

Friday night we met up with some good friends of ours and went Trick or Treating.

The boys really loved it, especially Heath.

Hunter got a little tired towards the end.

Here are some of the guys who taught the boys the "ropes" of Trick or Treating.

Saturday, we went to our friend, Kayin's, birthday party. Sorry, I didn't get many pictures of this.

Sunday evening, after church, we had a Trunk or Treat in front of our house with all of our church friends. Somewhere between Friday night and Sunday night, Mom lost our blue shower caps, so Dad sprayed our hair blue.

Coy and Ashley had to "Trailer Treat" since they walked from their house. BTW, we can't wait to meet Little Miss James in a few weeks.

Papa handed out candy from the bed of his truck and he made sure everyone saw the TWO horned elk that he shot last week in Colorado. That has Halloween written all over it!

There was a new Cat in the Hat in town (Mom just didn't have the energy, so Owen took over).

The Davis Clan

Sitting in the middle of the street, just like Mom tells us NOT to do.

Checking out the Loot!

What a busy weekend but, Oh, so much fun.
Hope your Halloween was wonderful.

Carving the Jack O` Lantern

I was so excited to let the boys help Chris carve the pumpkin this year. Click here to see last years pumpkin carvin adventure. I just knew they would dig in and love getting messy. Well.....I was partially right.

Hunter couldn't get enough.

He pulled out seeds and slimy stuff with the best of them.

He had no problem reaching way down to the bottom to scrap out the insides.

He even helped Daddy put it into the bag.

This pumpkin is more Heath's style, however,

This pictures shows the one (and only) time he put his hand anywhere near the pumpkin, and it was only because he wanted the spoon that Chris dropped in there.

He preferred playing in the dirt.

....and when Chris put the pumpkin slime on his shoulder, I seriously thought he was going to throw up!

He kept looking at Chris like, "Why would you do this to me?"

"Look over here guys, let's just plug these in and call it good...that would be much easier" I think he has some of my OCD.

Th finished product.

Toys 'R Us

The other day, Chris and I were in town and had some time to spare. We decided to take the boys to Toys R' Us and see if we could get any ideas for Christmas presents.

We had been in there before, but I don't think the boys were old enough to understand where we were. However, this time they completely understood that the shelves were lined with toys of every color, shape, and size.

They oooo'ed and awwwww'ed at everything, and every corner we turned, they would suck in their breaths as if saying, "Look Brother, there's more!"

Chris and I thought this was just down right hilarious. We laughed so hard! Our poor precious children live such a sheltered life that a trip to Toys 'R Us was definitely the highlight of their day.

Thankfully, they are still too young to want to BUY anything, it's still just fun to look at the toys. :)
