What You Didn't Tell Me...

Yeah, Yeah, you told me that parenting was hard...but you never mentioned...

...how I constantly have a sick feeling in my stomach every time one of the boys falls. I just can't help but think..."Is this the time we will have to go to the ER?" It makes me reminisce about the days when they couldn't run and climb. Everyone says that it will happen, but I can't shake the panic EVERY time they stumble. I think I need ulcer medication.

...how I feel every bump and bruise they get. Heath holds his breath before he lets out a wail, and Hunter has the saddest face. It breaks my heart.

...that the line: "This hurts me more than it hurts you" (my parents personal favorite)...really is true. I used to roll my eyes at my parents when I heard that. I thought, "Well, let's reverse these rolls and see if the feeling is mutual." While I still have not used that line, (and hope to never use it) I will admit that it does hurt me more to discipline my boys than it hurts them.

Sounds like you have motherhood figured out. :) I have been brought to tears (out of the offending kid's sight) many times while administering discipline, have gasped out loud watching my children fall and knowing I couldn't catch them, and I have made that trek to the ER more than once while my heart was breaking. Motherhood is not for the faint of heart! And definitely not for sissies! You are such a good momma!

I just hate it when my little baby boys get hurt. Chris said that on his birthday Heath busted his mouth. I felt the pain all the way to San Saba. I sure hope it is better now. Love, Grandma.

I love you dearly Crystal, but do you have any idea how long i have waited to hear the words at the begining? LOL Trust me, I learned this week it doesn't get any easier when they turn 21.
