Day 7 - Same story different verse

Today we went to the Dr's. office again. Yet again they had a very hard time finding blood and had to stick my poor arms several times. Yet again the Dr. office called back and said that I needed to up the medication. Now I am up to 6 vials of medicine in shot form every day. You should see the bruises on my stomach.

Chris and I took it pretty easy today, and went to eat supper at the boardwalk. I'll post pictures from our adventure.

Day 6- One of my dreams came true

For those of you who know me well, you know that if I lived in a big city there are two things I have always wanted to do: 1) Be a bell ringer for the Salvation Army at Christmas and 2) Take my laptop and sit at a Starbucks. For those who live in large towns this may not seem like much, but for us little town people those are two things that just are not possible. Until today. While the Salvation Army will still have to wait for my services, I did get to sit in Starbucks with my computer and watch the people go by. It was all that I had hoped it would be and I learned there are some real "freaks" in this town. I hope that I can go back again while we are here.

This afternoon, Chris and I went to the Kemah Boardwalk. I was really a neat place. It was right on the water, and had lots of cool little shops and restaurants. We hope to go back and eat at some of the sea food restaurants (Chris has his eye on some of the Oyster Bars).

I read this quote today on an e-mail from a close friend, I think it means a lot:

'I can handle anything that life throws at me.
I may not be able to handle it well, or correctly,
or gracefully, or with finesse, or expediently
but I will handle it.'

Day 5 - Chris finally goes fishing

Today we had a Dr. appointment and I got stuck with the blood drawing needle 3 different times before the nurse finally found blood. I told her that I knew I had blood (I admit, sometimes I've been told that I was cold blooded, but there is still blood there). Apparently they pulled this young girl straight out of nursing school and I was her first victim. It was very painful and NOT fun.

Afterwards, Chris and I went to the Galveston State Park where Chris spent the entire day fishing and I slept and read my book. He didn't have much luck with the fish, but as the pictures show, he did catch a nice sting ray.

Day 4- Just a minor set back

Last night we had a set back in the medication. I believe all of the shots mixed with the sun from Schlitterbahn were a bad combination. I got a migraine headache so bad that it made me sick to my stomach. However, my superhero husband made one emergency call to the Dr. and two Benadryl later, I was asleep and the headache quickly going away. I have never had a headache that hurt like that and my heart goes out to those people who have a tendency to get migraines.

I awoke this morning to my superhero husband holding a cup of Starbucks coffee, and knew that the day was going to be much better. Today we went to Moody Gardens in Galveston. The pictures can show the highlights.

Day 3

Well the day got off to a rainy start. Chris and I were not sure what rain looked like for a while...seeing as it never rains in West Texas. We drove down to Galveston and drove around the state park, scouting places for Chris to fish when the rain stops. After lunch the rain did stop and the sun finally came out so we decided to go to Schlitterbahn, Galveston. It was so much fun. In my opinion, it is not as great as the Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels, but still a great time.

Other than that the day was normal, more shots and medication. Chris and I are exhausted and will probably turn in early tonight.

Day 2

Today started out with a visit to the doctor's office. All is well and we added to our already existing string of medication. I'm up to three shots a day now. The afternoon group of shots requires so many steps it took Chris and I ten minutes to get just one shot ready.

This afternoon Chris and I went to the Star Cinema Grill where we ate a wonderful supper and watched the new movie Baby Mama. The movie was by far one of the funniest I have ever seen. Chris and I both loved it and would highly recommend it.

Day 1

If there were an olympics in sweet talking your husband, I just might be a gold medalist. I managed to make it the entire 8 hour drive without having to drive once. I don't know if it is because Chris is scared of the way I drive, he likes to be in control, or I'm just really good at being quiet and unnoticed, but he drove the entire way. It was great! I read my book, then my bible, then I took a nap just to top it off.

Lunch: Sonic
Dinner: Denny's
If I keep up these eating habits, they will have to roll me home and it won't be because of a baby.
