The flood

Yesterday we had a great flood here in Iraan. It made everyone very nervous, especially this game wardens wife. Chris and the other surrounding Wardens managed to pull approximately 8 different people from scary drowning situations. A lot of prayers were sent up, and they were answered...Chris and the other Wardens made it safely to our house about 3:30 this morning without a single drowning victim. We definitely need to thank God for watching over all of them.

Tomorrow Chris and I head to the sonogram specialist to take a look at the babies. Once again, hopefully we will get to find out what the babies are if everyone (doctors and babies) will cooperate. I'll update the blog as soon as I know.

It was just a matter of time

My sister, Kay, has four kids. The oldest is 11 and the youngest is 2. She has three very rowdy and active boys and a precious little girl that puts the boys to shame. So the big surprise here is that more serious injuries haven't happened prior to this. Sweet, little Zane, her third boy, fell out of the tree house yesterday and broke his arm in two different places. He was very brave, and Kay was super calm during the whole episode. I would have been in complete panic mode. When I got to her house to pick up the other three kids so she could take Zane to the ER, the other kids were standing around trying to console him. It was too cute to watch Kali, the 2 year old girl, patting his shoulder. Unfortunately, no one was really thinking of a camera at that point in time.

Zane has to have the cast on for 4 weeks and I bet he is a little more cautious next time he climbs into the tree house.

Sorry to disappoint...

We all had high hopes of finding out what the babies are today, but our doctor wants us to wait two more weeks until we see the sonogram specialist. So we will just hurry up and wait. Instead I leave you with pictures of Chris and I, both at 18 weeks. You decide who is bigger.

The mighty hunters have returned

Our friends Kurt Hanna and Jason Wrinkle, along with Chris's dad Mark all went hunting this past weekend. Here are the proud trophy shots from their exciting adventure.

On a different note, Chris and I are headed to the doctor tomorrow. Hopefully we will get to find out the sex of the babies. If so, I will definitely have a post for you tomorrow.

Christmas in August

Today I got about 6 names crossed off of my Christmas list. I usually start Christmas shopping pretty early, but given that I don't know if I will have babies or be on bed rest around that time this year I decided to start a little early. I really love to shop and Christmas shopping just gives me an excuse to feed that terrible habit. Just a few names left on the list then I will be done.

On a different note...Today was my first day back to school, and even without the students yet...I'm pooped! Just down right exhausted. I think we will just have cereal for supper, I might still have the energy to fix that.

I will survive!!!

At the risk of jinxing it...I think I might be starting to feel a little bit better. The new doctor gave me a new nausea medicine that seems to be working, and to deal with the anemia she has me taking Flintstones vitamins with Iron. These are much easier on my stomach and I can keep them down. I still occasionally throw up in the mornings and feel weak in the afternoons, but for the most part, I have more energy and am feeling much better. I would say that I am functioning at about 80% now, which is sooooo much better that the 5% that I have been at for most of the summer.

I can tell that the babies like the fact that I can keep some food down, too. I feel like they have grown tremendously in the last few weeks. I think I will officially have to switch to maternity clothes now instead of rubber banding my normal attire.

Thank goodness that I am feeling better, school starts for the teachers next week and for the kids, the week after that. I really do like my job as a teacher, but I will confess that these are my least favorite days of the year (April Fool's Day and St. Patrick's Day rank among the top also).

This week

Here is this weeks happenings in a nutshell:

Monday- Went to my first OB appointment with my new doctor in San Angelo. Didn't get to see the doctor and none of my questions were answered by his two incompetent nurses. Left San Angelo very upset and frustrated. I refuse to spend my time, money, or pregnancy with people like that.

Tuesday- Talked again to the nurses in San Angelo and they refused to set me up an appointment to see the doctor to ask him some of my questions (not even a phone conversation). The earliest that I could get in to see him was a month away. So, I called a dear friend of mine and got the number to her OB in Odessa. Got an appointment that afternoon to speak with a nurse. The nurse answered all of my questions and prescribed me some new medicine for the morning sickness. She even cried with me when she saw how frustrated and stressed I was.

Wednesday- Went back to Odessa for an appointment to see my new doctor who was very friendly, answered all of my questions, and did a sonogram so she could see the babies (and it didn't take a month to see her). She even told me that I can have chocolate again.

Thursday- Spent the day doing laundry, going through maternity clothes, and trying to straighten up my house.

Friday- Hair cut and pedicures in San Angelo with mom. Just what every stressed out pregnant woman needs. I returned home to my husband cooking me spaghetti and brownies.

Saturday- Jelly Making for Christmas gifts.

Tomorrow I leave for Austin for a TAKS writing workshop (fun!). Thankfully Mom is going with me, and we are supposed to meet Chris's mom up there so maybe we can go baby shopping.
